- Day, Edmund
- (1866-1923)New York-born Edmund Day began his theatrical career as an actor, but turned to playwriting. His farce The Head-Waiters (1902) found an audience, but Day had his greatest success with the melodrama The Round Up (1907), produced on Broadway by Klaw & Erlanger. Day's other plays, including The Cardinal's Edict (1905) and Behind the Mask (1906), achieved only short runs, but he fared better when he wrote two star vehicles. For prizefighter James J. "Gentleman Jim" Corbett, Day crafted Pals (1905), and for Lillian Russell he provided The Widow's Might (1909).
